What is included in a dental implant treatment?

A complete dental implant treatment involves several important steps to ensure long-term success:

• Full clinical assessment, including X-rays and 3D scans (CBCT) for accurate planning
• Digital planning of implant position
• Implant placement with additional bone support if needed
• Abutment (connector between implant and crown)
• Final crown
• A provisional crown in many cases, so you are not left without a tooth during healing

What is teeth in a day?

After placing a dental implant, we need to wait at least 3 months for the osseointegration to happen before we can place the crown. Teeth in a day involves placing a temporary crown (lighter in weight) straight after placing the dental implant, so the patient has no gaps whilst waiting for the osseintegration. This technique is not suitable for everyone, a previous check-up is necessary for each patient to make sure that it can be applied in practice

Single Dental Implants

The simplest implant treatment to replace a tooth is to place one single dental implant. This enables the patient to perfectly fulfil its masticatory function.

Zirconium dental implants

Sometimes a patient may prefer a metal free dental implant for personal choice or because of allergies to metal. Zirconium dental implants are 100% metal free, white and the holistic choice for some patients.
Zirconium, a highly resistant material is also fully biocompatible.

Before a treatment, each case will be profoundly studied to assure the use of the most appropriate technique. In fact, it is not necessary to use an implant for each missing tooth. Commonly, when there are three missing teeth we can place two or even one dental implant with three crowns

Full mouth Dental implants

Techniques like All on4 or All on 6 and 8. A full mouth denture supported by dental implants. This dental treatment also includes a fixed provisional denture, so that the patient has funcional teeth whilst the osseointegration of the dental implants is completed. After this, a full set of zirconia teeth will be placed.

Dental Implants for patients when there isn’t “enough bone”

These methods frequently avoid large bone grafts, shortening treatment time.  Many full-arch cases qualify for immediate loading, meaning you leave with a fixed provisional bridge on the day of surgery.

Zygomatic Dental implants

Instead of relying on the thin upper-jaw bone, extra-long implants anchor securely into the zygoma (cheekbone)—a naturally dense, stable bone. This often avoids bone grafts and lets us fix a full-arch bridge soon after surgery when stability allows. Long-term studies show zygomatic implants are a predictable option in advanced cases (as with maxillary atrophy or after maxillary surgery).

DIVA Dental implants

For patients who mainly lack bone under the sinus, we can perform a closed (internal) sinus lift through the implant itself. A special implant with a central channel allows controlled elevation of the sinus membrane and addition of graft material from within the implant site, reducing invasiveness compared with traditional open approaches. This technique was developed specifically for cases needing sinus elevation/augmentation at the same time as implant placement.

Advanced technology applied to dental implant treatments.

Dental implant surgery guided by computer

Advanced technology gives us the opportunity to plan the surgery in 3D for each patient, where we can see the result and the position of the dental implant prior the surgery. Furthermore, it informs our dentists about the adequate implantology technique and the exact position for insertion. This practice saves time and its a lot safer for the patient.

Prosthesis made with CAD/CAM technology

CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology are one of the most innovative techniques, which allow us to digitally reproduce the mouth in 3 dimensions. Once scanned, the implantologist designs the aesthetic piece on the computer which will be later passed for manufacturing. The excellent precision of the technology guarantees great success in the procedure.

Can I get teeth on the same day as my implants?

In many cases, yes. With immediate-load protocols (including All-on-4) we can place a fixed provisional bridge the same day. For single-tooth cases, a temporary crown can often be fitted on the day, where primary stability and bite conditions allow.

What if I have very little bone?

We assess with a CBCT scan and can often treat with advanced options such as All-on-4, zygomatic implants or DIVA implants. Suitability depends on your anatomy and medical history.

Does the procedure hurt?

Implants are placed under local anaesthesia and, if needed, conscious sedation. Most patients feel pressure or vibration rather than pain. Post-op discomfort is usually mild and manageable.

How long does healing take before the final teeth?

Osseointegration typically takes 8–16 weeks. Timelines vary by case. We review your progress and fit the definitive prosthesis once stability is confirmed.

How much do dental implants cost in Gibraltar?

Costs depend on the number of implants, any need for grafting or advanced techniques, and the type of final teeth. We provide a personalised plan and quote after your free consultation.
